KEMA CONFIRMS NEW MCE AND PM
The assembly members of the Krachi East Municipal Assembly (KEMA) have officially endorsed the nomination of Charles Gyamfi Boateng as the New Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and elected Oklu Rockson as the presiding member through a consensus vote.
The new MCE, Charles Gyamfi Boateng secured an overwhelming 96.6 percent of votes with 29 out of 30 assembly members supporting his nomination. This appointment follows the untimely passing of the farmer MCE, Bernard Mensah Aborkugya, last month. He had succeeded the late Francis Okesu in 2023.
Similarly, the assembly members also elected Oklu Rockson as the presiding member, marking a crucial step forward in the governance of the municipality. The election, conducted by secret ballot, saw the presiding member securing 93.3 percent of the votes with 28 out of 30 assembly members endorsing his appointment.
Shortly, after the election, the new presiding member pledged to prioritize the development and progress of the municipality. The newly appointed MCE also affirmed his commitment to the development agenda stressing the importance of collaboration and inclusivity in local governance. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the municipality following the loss of his predecessor but affirmed his determination to steer the assembly towards progress. Mr. Boateng outlined his vision to strengthen local governance. Structures empower the sub-committee’s town council and conduct comprehensive needs assessments to address the specific requirements of assembly members and staff.
