COMPLAINTS BROUGHT FORWARD DURING THE PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON 17^TH JUNE,2019 AND THE REMEDIES TAKEN.

1. GPRTU’S COMPLAINT OF LIVESTOCK ON THE ROADS WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY

The executives of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Dambai, complained that most livestock keepers do not pen their livestock. They rather leave them to roam and sleep on the roads. This has led to a number of accidents and has also made commuting of vehicles very difficult.

It was unanimously agreed by the house that this is a matter that involved the safety of road users within the municipality hence should be given serious attention. The house agreed that all strayed livestock/animals should be detained by the authorities.

2. FREQUENT POWER OUTAGES BY ECG

The house again raised concerns about the recent power outages in the municipality and how people have been complaining on how their household appliances have damaged as a result of this unfortunate event.

It was unanimously agreed that the ECG boss be invited to meet the house and brief the committee on why the municipality was experiencing the power outages and what was being done to restore regular power

3. POOR ATTENDANCE TO NATIONAL SANITATION DAY ACTIVITIES

The chairman also submitted that most people within the municipality fail to attend the National Sanitation Day’s activities. It was observed by the plaintiffs that the program was attended by the same people every time and it was against the objective of the government.

Hon. Kulla K. Bright submitted to the house that management should break the whip by prosecuting citizens who exhibited that lackadaisical attitude or fail to attend.

The house also agreed that Zoomlion and the Assembly must provide enough logistics and other materials to ensure effective garbage collection and refuse removal from the gutters and not left of the roadside for it to return to the gutters.

4. OTHER MATTERS

The public needed to be abreast with the presence and functions of the PRCC.
