STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT
In our quest to prevent, manage and fight disaster, one of the major things we cannot forgo is stakeholder engagement and the building of the spirit of teamwork amongst us as stakeholders.
At the National Disaster Management Organization, we recognize the importance of the church and the various roles our churches have played over the years in shaping our communities, the country and the world. In times of disaster, in most situations, the church becomes a place of refuge, many churches give out their facilities to host and shelter victims, in some cases, relief items are distributed to victims by the church.
At the National Disaster Management Organization,we consider the church a very important stakeholder in our quest to prevent, respond and manage disaster and build resilience in our communities. By building a strong partnership with the church,we are not only ensuring a collaborative approach and response to disaster prevention, response and management but also tapping into the church’s influence and reach in our communities.
During the week I led my team to pay a courtesy call on the leadership of the Local Council of Churches in the Krachi-East Municipal, to first officially introduce myself and the staff to them, seek their support, thank them for good works and prayers and most importantly seek their permission to use their facilities in the future incase of any emergency and their displacement of people. We also asked them stand-in and pray against such occurrence in our municipal and the country at large.
It was a successful engagement, both sides agreed to work hand in hand to ensure safe space for our people
