The attention of the Oti Regional coordinating Council (ORCC) has been drawn to certain happenings during its Regional Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee on sanitation (RICCS).

The agenda for the meeting with its consensus are as follows:

1. Singeing of carcasses with casinogenic material (lorry tyres) across the region.

2. Display and sales of meat for public consumption in the open (exposed meat).

The above issues have been resolved accordingly that:

1. Hence forth, from 16^th day of June, 2023, the use of casinogenic materials (lorry tyres) have been forbidden during the meeting held between Management of KEMA and Butchers Association at the Assembly’s Conference Hall.

2. The butchers resolved the issue by going back to their old meat shop. However they agreed to refurbish or construct up to standard meat sale’s shops. They promised to consult the authorities involved (Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit and The Veterinary Department). The inspection shall come of 31^st July, 2023 and final inspection on 30^th August, 2023.
