LAUNCHING OF POLIO VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

Poliomyelitis (Polio) is a highly infectious disease caused by a virus that largely affects children under 5 years of age. The virus is transmitted through contaminated water, food, or contact with an infected person. It is treated with vaccines usually done at the early stage of a child (childhood). During the launch of the Polio Vaccination Campaign in the Municipality, children under 5 years old and below have been targeted for the vaccination. The vaccination period or exercise will be done in 2 Rounds. The 1st round of vaccination will begin from 1st – 4th September, 2022 and the 2nd round from 6th – 9th October, 2022. The expected target of children to be vaccinated within the set periods are Twenty-Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty-Eight (29,748) children, and One Hundred and Twenty (120) Volunteers will be well trained as part of the vaccination exercise including The Health Workers of the Municipality.
